David Golding is a Los Angeles native and a second-generation film editor. Literally growing up in an edit bay, he began his career in sound, taking his first job at fourteen years old in a Santa Monica ADR/Mixing facility. Being exposed to the demanding environment of large budget films at an early age entrenched with in him the importance of organization and efficiency required to deliver films and television programming.

By the age of eighteen David had fallen in love with the visual aspects of storytelling. He began shooting and editing for a small cable television station where he was given free reign to creatively express himself and hone his craft. In his off hours he devoted his time to working on music videos and corporate videos.

In 2002 he was hired as an assistant editor for a docudrama being made by Golden Globe nominee, Zalman King. Over the course of the project the two developed a strong working relationship and David would go on to assume the role of lead editor on all of Zalman’s projects. Under Zalman’s direction and tutelage David edited and shot many films, television dramas, reality shows and music videos. The strong sense of aesthetic for which Zalman King’s works are famous would help shape David’s own eye for creating a compelling narrative.

Beginning in 2005 David met and had the privilege of working with Emmy Award winning filmmaker, Shane Stanley of Visual Arts Entertainment. The two would go on to collaborate on several music videos, national television campaigns and motion pictures, most recently, My Trip Back to the Dark Side, which premiered at the 2013 Cannes International Film Festival. Working with Shane has allowed David not only to utilize his gifts in the edit bay, but on set as a camera operator, cinematographer and still photographer as well.

As an editor, David focuses on the pace and tone of a project. Just as important as the aesthetic and narrative, the pace of a scene can create a physical response in the audience. Through manipulation of all of these aspects David crafts truly unique works that stick with the audience long after they’ve been viewed.
